Treating Forehead and Brow Wrinkles with Botox

Natural aging and genetics are very much to blame when it comes to forehead wrinkles. Wrinkles typically appear when the face is very dramatically expressive or when the eyelids begin to droop and a person compensates for this by raising his/her eyebrows, drawing lines on their forehead.

When you have an expressive face and your forehead wrinkles tend to be prominent, you may look older than you really are or you may appear angry when you are not, if the frown lines are prominent. Treating your forehead and brow wrinkles with Botox can result in you looking rested and restore your young looks.

How Botox works

Forehead wrinkles treatment  involves temporarily disabling the facial muscles that cause wrinkles, especially those associated with frown lines between the eyes and crow’s feet. It does this by blocking the facial nerves that tell your muscles to contract.

Botox basically paralyzes the muscles once injected, leading to the reduction of the dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles that are only present when muscles contract). This is why Botox is so effective on the wrinkles around the cheeks (when you smile), mouth and the corner of the eyes (when you frown, squint and grimace).

The skin loses elasticity as we grow older and sometimes a permanent crease can develop even when the muscles are relaxed. Because of these, not all wrinkles are treated equally. Although Botox cannot diminish these types of wrinkles, it can help to soften them, especially with consistent and prolonged use.

The treatment

During your initial consultation, you will talk to your doctor and express your concerns. He/she will assess you medically and then examine your problem areas. Some photographs may be taken for reference later and the doctor will mark the muscles responsible for your surprised facial expression.. The doctor may apply some numbing cream a few minutes before the injections. After this, the injections can start. They are typically very quick, and don’t leave any lasting pain, marks or scars.

Forehead wrinkles treatment  is basically a lunchtime procedure. You can literally drop by your doctor’s office over the lunch hour break and have the procedure done. It is important to note that, in order to achieve the most elegant results from a Botox forehead treatment, the forehead is rarely treated on its own. It is typically paired with a brow lift or a frown treatment.

After the treatment

There is no recovery time when it comes to Botox treatment on the forehead and frown lines and you can get back to work immediately after. However, you should avoid any type of physical exercise for about a day. Should some type of mild bruising occur (which is rare) you can camouflage this immediately with makeup.

Effect duration

It takes about 2 days to 2 weeks for the results to be visible. Botox is not reversible once it is injected. Its effects last between 3 to 6 months, at which point you would need another treatment to maintain the results.

It is important to choose a practitioner who is highly qualified and skilled at administering Botox injections. You should also carefully research them before settling on a particular practitioner.
