Facial Sculpting

Most people are in the quest for a perfect face, whether through makeup or cosmetic surgery, so as to achieve their best look. After all, the selfie generation has put a considerable amount of pressure and emphasis on looks. And it’s not only women who feel the need to have their best features forward, men too are claiming their space on the aesthetic table.

Some women have very active jaw muscles, which give their face a square outlook. This can easily make them develop a need to achieve a smaller, softer and more feminine facial structure. On the other hand, some men may also feel their face might be looking a bit feminine, making them want to have a more chiselled and masculine look.

This is where Facial Sculpting comes in. Otherwise known as facial contouring, it is a combination of different cosmetic procedures, both surgical and non-surgical, that subtly change the shape of the face, and as a result offer a sigh of relief to anyone looking to improve their facial structure. The procedures also reverse signs of aging on the face such as wrinkles, hollowness, and fine lines skin.

Facial Sculpting Techniques

Facial sculpting is the reshaping of facial contours especially along the jawline and neckline by removing fatty deposits under the skin, as well as restoring volume to create fullness. In some cases, surgically reshaping the cartilage and bones to give either a more feminine look or a masculine look is required.

Facial contouring is typically used for issues facing the nose, forehead, cheekbones, jawline, chin, cheeks, and lips. The procedure involves a variety of techniques including:

  • Liposuction: This is a surgical procedure that gets rid of unwanted fatty deposits and fat bulges, especially along the neckline and chin, leaving the area well-contoured.
  • Non-invasive procedures: These include injectables like dermal fillers, and micro-Botox, which are typically used for jawline sculpting, non-surgical rhinoplasty, and volume restoration to give naturally pronounced cheek bones and lips.

The Facial Sculpting Process

a) The Consultation

The first step of a Facial Sculpting procedure is having a detailed consultation and examination in the clinic with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons. This is to determine a tailor-made plan for you.

b) The Surgery

The second step is to schedule the Facial Sculpting procedure with one of our highly qualified and experienced plastic surgeons who is an expert in Facial sculpting and anti-aging procedures. The procedure requires anywhere from 30 minutes (injectables) to 2 hrs (surgical) depending on the technique and number of procedures to be performed either under local or general anaesthesia.

Prior to any facial sculpting procedure, each patient is screened to ensure that it is safe to proceed with the surgery. This includes a pre-anaesthetic consultation, blood testing, and to ensure the patient is a fit candidate for the procedure.

During the surgery, a good plastic surgeon will complete a range of procedures under one general anaesthetic as this is much safer than having a set of continuous procedures done, which might open the patient to complications. Even though the anatomical structures with the issues are located in different areas of the face, the surgeon will use equipment which will minimize the amount of incisions and scarring made to the face.

The expert plastic surgeon will accompany you throughout the entire process of recovering and healing through scheduled follow-

c) The Recovery

There is usually some bruising, numbness and swelling after any Facial Sculpting procedure, and the patient usually recovers after about seven days if it was a surgical procedure, and 1-2 days for the injectables.

Precautions

For Facial Sculpting, as mentioned above, it is crucial to find a plastic surgeon who can complete a range of procedures under one general anaesthetic. He or she should also be board-certified and experienced in Facial Sculpting techniques.

A good candidate for Facial Sculpting should:

  • Have excess fatty tissues
  • Not have a lot of excess skin
  • He or she should have healthy elastic skin
  • Be physically and mentally healthy
  • Have realistic expectations

What to expect from a Facial Sculpting Procedure

  • Long lasting results
  • Little to no downtime
  • Minimal pain since the procedures are not extensive
  • Youthful looks
  • High satisfaction
