Hand Rejuvenation With PRP

The hands, just like the face, are some of the first areas of the body to show the signs of aging. This is because the hands are constantly exposed to harsh environmental elements, in addition to other factors, which makes them prone to premature aging, sunburn, and injury among other things. Some of the concerns that individuals struggle with over time regarding their hands include:

  • Liver or age spots
  • Excessive wrinkles
  • Volume loss in the hands
  • Prominent veins
  • Loose skin

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections help in treating the above issues by using the patient’s own plasma to help in repairing damaged skin on the hands.

Hand Rejuvenation With PRP Technique

Hand rejuvenation with PRP is a painless and minimally invasive procedure which uses the science of platelet rich plasma (PRP) to correct thinning and parched skin, wrinkling, and volume loss in the hands due to sun exposure and aging.

PRP is a concentrated source of growth factors, platelets and cytokines which are naturally produced by the body. It controls and stimulates healthy regenerative processes including collagen, and soft tissue remodelling, hence improving the overall health of the skin.

Hand Rejuvenation With PRP Process

a) The Consultation

The first step of having a hand rejuvenation with PRP in Dubai is to have a detailed consultation and examination in the clinic with our Board-certified Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist, to determine a tailor-made plan for each candidate.

b) The Treatment

The second step is to schedule the hand rejuvenation with PRP procedure with the highly qualified and experienced plastic surgeon or dermatologist who is an expert in hand rejuvenation and other anti-aging procedures. The procedure requires up to one hour under topical anaesthesia depending on the area to be treated.

Prior to the procedure each patient is screened to ensure that it is safe to proceed with the procedure.

The hand rejuvenation with PRP procedure is quick and straightforward. During the treatment, which is done in the clinic, about 30-60 ml of blood is drawn from the patient and centrifuged. This is done to separate the plasma and platelets from other elements of the blood.

Once the treatment area has been numbed with a topical anaesthesia, the plasma is injected into the patient’s hand so as to diminish wrinkles or restore volume.

Since hand rejuvenation with PRP is a minimally-invasive procedure, the patient can resume his or her daily activities soon after the treatment.

The expert plastic surgeon or dermatologist accompanies the patient throughout the entire process of recovery and healing, through scheduled follow-ups.

c) The Recovery

The recovery time depends on the purpose of the treatment but most patients of hand rejuvenation with PRP resume their day to day activities almost immediately or a day after the procedure.

The results of hand rejuvenation with PRP are visible within a month, and they last for about 12 months. It is therefore recommended to have the treatment done every six months to a year. However, this depends on the patient’s desires and needs.

After 14 days, the patient would typically have a follow-up visit to the clinic to monitor the healing process, as well as the results.

Precautions

Although a hand rejuvenation with PRP procedure is straightforward, it is important that the right level of intervention or treatment is determined and that the procedure be performed by a qualified and expert plastic surgeon or dermatologist. A potential candidate has to fit into certain criteria to be eligible for the procedure and should have:

  • Wrinkled and thin hands
  • Age spots
  • Volume loss on the hands due to aging
  • Realistic expectations regarding the expected results.
  • Be in good health both physically and psychologically.

What To Expect From A Hand Rejuvenation With PRP

The main benefit of a hand rejuvenation with PRP treatment is improved and younger looking hands. Since everyone is different, the expected results of a hand rejuvenation with PRP might vary from person to person, but benefits typically include:

  • PRP does not have any known side effects
  • The procedure is non-invasive
