Aging can take a toll on a woman’s breasts as it makes them become less firm and droopy. Pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as extensive weight loss also contribute to this. It is something that can make a woman feel less comfortable in her own skin. The good news is that if you would like to have firmer breasts, you can always opt for a breast lift surgery.
Breast Lift in Dubai
Women who seek to undergo a breast lift have varying reasons for wanting to do so. But whatever the reason is, a breast lift can give you exactly what you asked for. This is because a breast lift restores a firmer, perkier and more aesthetically pleasing shape to sagging breasts, thereby improving the patient’s appearance by restoring her youthful, feminine appearance.
A breast lift removes excess, stretched out skin, reshapes the breast tissue and raises the nipple and areola into a more forward position. During the breast lift surgery, stretched, large areolae can also be reduced creating an overall better proportioned, natural looking breast.
How to tell if you need a breast lift
Consulting an expert surgeon who has expertise in breast surgery is a sure way of knowing whether you need a breast lift or not. There are however a number of questions that you can ask yourself so as to get an idea of how a breast lift can help in improving your breast shape, such as:
- Are my nipples pointing downwards? The breasts tend to start sagging due to the stretching of the skin at the base of the breast. This makes the weight of the breast tissue pull the nipple downwards. A breast lift positions the breast tissue making the nipples face forward.
- Do my breasts seem asymmetrical or unusually shaped? A breast lift is an effective way of improving breast symmetry. A skilled surgeon uses breast lift techniques to restore a more normal, rounded shape to tuberous breasts.
- Does the areola/nipple sit below the crease underneath my breast? One trait that Cosmetic Surgeons often look for while evaluating a breast lift candidate is the position of the nipple/areola in relation to the inframammary fold, or crease beneath the breast. Ideally, the nipple is at the same level or slightly higher than the inframammary fold.
- Am I happy with the size of my breasts? Although a breast lift alone will not significantly change the size of your breasts, it will help in making them look fuller and rounder. If you would like them to be larger or smaller, then the breast lift can be done in conjunction with breast augmentation or reduction.
Types of Breast lifts
There are different types of breast lifts and the technique that the surgeon uses depends on a patient’s existing breast tissue, the amount of excess skin to be removed and her personal goals.
- Crescent lift: minimal scarring to correct minimal sagging. The crescent lift technique is used for women who have a very small amount of sagging to correct. It involves a small incision which runs halfway around the top half of the edge of the areola. It is usually done when a patient is also having breast augmentation.
- Peri-Areolar or Donut lift: corrects mild sagging with a single scar. This technique is for women who are experiencing mild sagging. It involves a circular incision which runs around the edge of the areola, and it is also commonly performed in conjunction with breast augmentation.
- Vertical or lollipop lift: corrects moderate sagging and provides more extensive reshaping. This technique allows a Cosmetic Surgeon to remove excess skin as well as reshape the entire breast with modest, easily hidden scars. It involves 2 incisions: one around the edge of the areola and one running vertically from the bottom of the areola to the inframammary fold, therefore creating a lollipop shape.
- Inverted T or Anchor lift: dramatic reshaping to correct extensive sagging. This is for women who have considerable sagging and pendulous breasts. The technique allows a Cosmetic Surgeon to remove excess skin and sagging tissues. It involves 3 incisions: one around the edge of the areola, one vertically from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease and one along the inframammary fold hidden in the breast crease. This technique can also be used if you are having a breast reduction with lift.
What to expect after a breast lift surgery
A breast lift surgery is typically performed as a day procedure using general anesthesia. It usually takes about 1 to 3 hours to perform depending on the extent of the surgery. You will be able to go home shortly after the surgery to continue with your recovery. You will be placed in a surgical bra as this helps in post-operative swelling and bruising. There will be soreness and swelling but this should be managed with pain medication.
You are required to take it easy for the first few days and avoid strenuous activities till you have completely recovered. You can return to work after a week or so depending on the nature of your work. Your doctor will give you the complete list of instructions during your recovery. Follow up appointments are expected.
