Brachioplasty, also known as arm lift, is a cosmetic surgery that aims to improve the tone and contours of your upper arms. It works by removing the sagging skin, readjusting the supporting structures, and reducing the excess fat lying in the upper arms.
Brachioplasty in Dubai is a type of body contouring procedure that effectively reshapes your arms to make them appear slimmer and firmer. It is often performed as a part of larger post-weight loss body contouring surgery to achieve comprehensive and dramatic results.
What to Expect from Brachioplasty?
Some common benefits of getting an arm lift are:
- Arms look more proportional to the rest of your body
- Reduction of stubborn fat
- Removal of unwanted skin that hangs below the arm
- A slimmer look as circumference decreases
- Reshaping of the arm into a more attractive silhouette
- An increase in self-confidence
Procedure of Brachioplasty
Consultation
The process starts with the patient having a detailed consultation session with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Your Practitioner may suggest running some blood tests to determine your suitability for the surgery. After evaluating your medical history and body type, the Plastic Surgeon proceeds to devise the perfect tailor-made plan for your surgery while keeping in view your aspirations and expectations.
Surgical Procedure
Prior to surgery, the Plastic Surgeon marks the site of surgery and the amount of skin to be removed as well as areas of liposuction. The patient is then given general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. The length of the incision varies according to the scope of the surgery, i.e., how much readjustment is needed.
The cut may run along the entire length of the upper arms till the elbow or may just be limited to the armpit region. Plastic Surgeons then start restructuring the underlying supportive tissue with the help of internal sutures. Excess fat is often also removed to improve the shape of the arm.
After this, the Plastic Surgeon trims the excess skin and smoothens it over the arm. Finally, the incisions are closed with the help of sutures. The whole procedure takes about 2-3 hours.
Recovery
Following the arm lift, elastic bandages may be applied over the arms to reduce swelling and protect the treated area against any pressure. Plastic Surgeons may also put drainage tubes under the skin to ward off fluid or blood buildup at the sites.
The scars of the surgical incisions can take about 12 months to fade away significantly. One can expect to return to the daily routine within 7 to 10 days of getting the surgery. However, swelling takes about 3-4 weeks to subside properly, after which full results can be observed.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Although the results of brachioplasty are relatively permanent, you need to maintain a stable weight to preserve the outcomes and make them last longer.
