It is every woman’s desire to wear anything she feels comfortable in without having to worry about how her body looks. Unfortunately, there are a few body issues that can make a woman lose confidence in herself. These include;
- Loose skin on different areas of the body.
- Protruding abdomen after pregnancy.
- Cellulite and stretch marks on the abdomen, thighs, legs and buttocks.
Velashape is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that is used to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The treatment achieves this by firming, toning, and smoothing out the skin.
Velashape Cellulite Treatment Technique
Velashape is a light therapy massage treatment that uses radiofrequency and infrared light to improve the appearance of cellulite on certain areas of the body. The combination of infrared and vacuum radiofrequency technology heats the underlying dermal collagen fibres, fat cells, and connective fibres. This stimulates the production of new collagen, which improves the skin’s volume and boosts elasticity, and as a result the texture and structure of the skin is positively enhanced.

The Velashape Process
a) The Consultation
The first step of a Velashape treatment is having a detailed consultation and examination in the clinic with our board-certified plastic surgeon, to determine a tailor-made plan for each candidate. The specialist will determine if one is suitable for the treatment by running a few tests.
b) The Surgery
The second step is to schedule the Velashape treatment with the highly qualified and experienced plastic surgeon who is an expert in Velashape cellulite treatment and other skin tightening procedures. The treatment takes between 20 minutes to 1 hour per session depending on the size and areas to be treated.
Prior to any surgery or treatment at the clinic, each patient is screened to ensure that it is safe to proceed with the procedure. This includes either a pre-anesthetic consultation, blood testing, and to ensure the patient is a fit candidate for the procedure.
The procedure is painless but can cause slight bruising and mild redness. Anaesthesia is not required during the treatment because it uses a unique massaging applicator with suction, which is fairly straightforward. The suction device kneads the skin gently to the treatment’s proper position. The massage movements together with the warmth of the Velashape treatment gives a deep tissue kneading, which the patient can find relaxing.
During the treatment, a handpiece or hand-held device is glided across the target area. Controlled heat is delivered using vacuum technology (RF) to give the skin a light suction.
After the treatment, the patient is allowed to go back home or to resume his/her day-to-day activities. There is typically no downtime associated with treatment. For a significant amount of cellulite reduction, at least six treatment sessions spaced one week apart are recommended.
The expert plastic surgeon accompanies the patient throughout the entire process of recovery and healing, through scheduled follow-ups.
c) The Recovery
Velashape shows better results after a series of treatments. The results start to show after the second or third treatment. After every treatment session, the skin will have some redness, and will feel warm, but this will only last for up to 4 hours or less.
Although a Velashape procedure is straightforward, it is important that the right level of intervention or treatment is determined and that the procedure, whether surgical or non-surgical, be performed by a qualified and expert plastic surgeon. A potential candidate has to fit into certain criteria to be eligible for the procedure and should:
- Have realistic expectations regarding the expected results.
- Be in good health both physically and psychologically.
- Have cellulite on the thighs, knees, arms, abdomen and elbow.
- Be a person with Body Mass Index (BMI) of 29 and below.
- Not be pregnant.
What To Expect From A Velashape Cellulite Treatment
The main benefit of a Velashape procedure is to get rid of cellulite and reduce the circumference of the treated area. Since everyone is different, the expected results of a Velashape treatment might vary from person to person, but benefits typically include:
- The treatment is non-surgical.
- There’s zero downtime.
- Visibly tighter skin in just a short time period.
- Toned and contoured body.
- Restored confidence.
- It’s a fairly straight forward and effective treatment.
